The trekking experience begins with a briefing by your experienced guide, who will share important information about the endangered mountain gorillas and the rules of conduct that must be followed during the trek. You will then begin your journey by walking through the dense jungle, accompanied by your guide and a team of armed rangers. During the trek, you will be able to observe the lush vegetation, birds, and other wildlife.
Once you spot the gorillas, you will be required to remain at least 7m away from them, in order to minimize the risk of transmitting any diseases from humans to the animals. You will be able to observe and take photos of the gorillas for a maximum of one hour.
After the hour has passed, you will begin your journey back to the starting point. The trekking experience typically lasts 4–5 hours, and you will be provided with lunch and snacks. Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is an excellent opportunity to experience the beauty and majesty of these incredible animals in the wild and to contribute to the conservation efforts of these endangered species.
